Volunteers, awards, and more!
Hey! Some exciting news for you today. A lot of new talented volunteers have joined us since the last update. Let’s welcome Avinash Mulye, Shayeri Reza, Emily Myer, and Saata Bangura.

Avinash is our new volunteer coordinator; he will be in charge of recruiting and managing volunteers. Shayeri, a graduate student in engineering at SJSU, will be supporting Elsa Lantier in the marketing department. Saata will be our Graphic Designer, and Emily will help us with data entry. Welcome to our team!

In other exciting news, President Nathaniel Montgomery’s hard work at ASL and AmeriCorps has been recognized with the SJSU Provost and Service Learning Award. He has just finished his second term at AmeriCorps with over 900 hours of community service. Excellent job! Now he will be able to turn his undivided attention to ASL.

Moreover, our PR Director Ivan Nikittin has graduated from UC Berkeley with high honors in English.... he now joins the working world and continues to volunteer for ASL. Congratulations!

Our first project for our service learning program will be baking cookies for Jacobs Heart in Santa Cruz. Volunteers are welcome! We are also planning a community picnic for the end of August. More information coming soon!
